FastenMaster TrapEase 3 Makes Your Deck Installation Faster and Stronger

TrapEase 3_Family_wspotter

FastenMaster TrapEase 3

Last week, we shared information about FastenMaster TORX TTAP used by FastenMaster Cortex and FastenMaster TrapEase 3. This week, we want to take a closer look at the FastenMaster TrapEase 3. It’s a versatile deck screw designed for use with composite, PVC, and capstock decking. The FastenMaster TrapEase 3 provides a clean, finished look with a quick, streamlined install.

The TrapEase 3 uses the TORX® TTAP® Drive System which makes the screws stick easily and drill in without wobble and without stripping — no pre-drilling required. The screw drives into the deck board easily and leaves no mushrooming effect.

Each box comes with the bit and spotter lid. The spotter lid makes it easy to have perfectly placed screws, for straight or angled decking, and provides a consistent install with a great finished look. The screws come in 75, 350, and 1050 piece boxes which will cover 20, 100, and 300 square feet of deck, respectively.

The TrapEase 3 is available in an array of color painted screws to match popular decking boards. A corrosion warranty lasts for the life of the project.  If you’re looking for a versatile screw that installs fast and clean into composite, PVC, and capstock–the TrapEase 3 is perfect. We have FastenMaster TrapEase 3 at DIY Home Center.

Let FastenMaster Save You Time & Money

We’ve all heard the famous Benjamin Franklin quote: “Time is Money” and we all know how true it is!  By using FastenMaster FlatLok structural wood screws, instead of nails and bolts to fasten multiple beams and trusses it will keep your project moving along quickly, ultimately saving you, your ever so valuable… time & money!

There is no need for pre-drilling with FlatLok, a sure fire way to save you time.  The threads on the screw will cut through some of the most solid lumber then pull the wood together for quick installation.  FastenMaster has made sure that penetration is a breeze because the FlatLok TORX® ttap® drive features a stability button.  If you’ve ever experienced wobble during installation, you know why stability is so important in a structural wood screw.  You will significantly lower possible stripping because your bit will have the best fit.  Receive a free TORX® ttap® bit with every box of FlatLok screws you purchase!

FlatLok has passed the test and meets the majority of the ICC standard criteria. Using treated lumber? It has received authorization to use with it. Once installed, the screw will be flat on the surface, this lets drywall or trim slide easily into place. You won’t have to worry about these screws becoming rusted or corroding, they are certain to last.

Check out the FastenMaster FlatLok video and see how you can save both time and money!

How to Groove Your Own Deck Boards (It’s faster than you think!)

You might think that you need to have grooved deck boards to get a fastener-free deck surface with the TigerClaw TC-G fastener. But you can cut your own grooves in regular decking boards–and you can do it quickly!

The main tool required is a handheld router using a 5/32” bit (the video below shows the TigerClaw TC-G Slot Cutter). You’ll also want some safety glasses, a few clamps to hold down the decking boards on the deck surface, a tape measure, and a pencil.

As you see from the video, only a few steps are required:

  1. Measure 13/32” from bottom of board and mark with a pencil
  2. Adjust the router and do a sample cut at the pencil line and test to make sure the TigerClaw TC-G clip fits tightly in the groove as shown in the video
  3. After ensuring a correct measurement and cut, cut your grooves in the boards either at the location a groove is required or groove the entire board
  4. Install the TC-G clips as directed

The FastenMaster cut 8 slots in 12 seconds–only 24 seconds additional labor on every 20’ deck board and an extra 16 minutes for a 400 square foot deck. Much faster than installing deck boards with screws. (Not to mention those extra DIY bonus points you get for cutting your own grooves!)

Check out DIY Home Center for the TC-G clips and the slot cutter router and get this project started!
